Holiday Games Update

Bothell Girls played 2 games over the holiday break.  First they participated in the ShowWare Shootout and took on White River – a battle of unbeaten teams and the #1 ranked 2A team in the state. A week later they played at home and took on the perennial 3A powerhouse Juanita.

White River

In a battle of top ranked teams, Bothell and White River Hornets were all tied up at 10 after one quarter and 24 at half.  Corosdale was in early foul trouble and sat much of the first half.  Bothell picked up their defense in the 3rd quarter and lead 37-31 to start the 4th quarter. Then somebody put a lid on the Cougar basket as the BHS outside shots found rim and the Hornets powered on.

With 3:23 left in the 4th White River took the lead 44-42 behind a strong inside game by 1000 point club 6’2″ Senior Kendall Bird and dead-eye outside shooting by 5’6″ Senior Jane Allyn Norris. The Cougars couldn’t establish a lead and were down 4 with 2 minutes left. Down 5 with just 7.3 seconds left – Keyonna Jones hit a 3 from the right wing (the teams only 3 point make in the game) but Bothell could not finish with the lead as the Hornets tacked on late free throws.

Bothell loses their first game 51-47.

Corosdale lead Bothell with 16 points, followed by Hudson with 10 and Jones 9. Bothell only shot 31% for the game on mostly outside attempts, shooting and uncharacteristically low 1 for 10 from behind the arc.  Their primarily outside game lead to only 10 free throw attempts and they made only 6.
